This Update is Improving Click Accuracy

Listen up! Google’s Discover performance report has been causing some changes in click counts.

Don’t worry though, it’s a good thing! Search Engine Land reports that the Search Console Discover performance report revealed that Google has enhanced its mechanism for counting clicks and impressions. This past Monday, November 28th, the performance report was updated which is where the increase in clicks is coming from.

Barry Schwartz caught a screenshot of what the update looks like in Search Console. Check it out just below.

Hopefully users won’t get their hopes up too much since this is only a reporting update. This means that performance reports is only refreshing that data of clicks from your site, not new increases.

What’s New in Google Discover Performance Report?

This was a surprise to many since there wasn’t any update announced. But hey, if that means systems run better to help users, we’re here for it. Here’s what a Search Console blog post said about the update:

“Google has improved their system for counting Discover clicks and impressions. As a result, you might see an increase in your Discover data that more accurately reflects your site’s appearance in Discover.”

What Is Google Discover?

Remember Google Feed? Well, Google Discover is the new name. Without having to search for them, Google Discover lets you learn more about the topics that interest you, such as your preferred sports team or news source.

You may see news and topics related to the things you are interested in on Discover. This normally appears on your Google App or browser’s home page, and it may also be sent to your device via the Google mobile app, Search Engine Land reports.
