Have You Heard About Google’s Looker Studio?

Everyone stop what you’re doing! There’s big news today from Google about their Data Studio, I mean Looker Studio!

Yep, that’s right Google announced that Looker Studio will replace Data studio. Kate Wright, Google Cloud’s Senior Director of BI, explained that this change comes in alignment with Google’s mission for its users. Google’s Looker Studio is described as a “self-service business intelligence with unmatched flexibility for smarter business decisions.”

Now formerly known as Data Studio, the last product update happened just over a month ago when resize-able editor panels were added to the report editor. Users can expect to see more analytics tools and features in the platform with this transition.

What’s New in Looker Studio?

When announce the change in name, Google made sure clearly state that the product we knew as Data Studio is not changing, simply getting a new name.

Many are also happy that the product is still free, however there is now an option to upgrade to Looker Studio Pro.

Google says that the new and improved Looker Studio will help users:

  1. Tell impactful stories by creating and sharing engaging reports and data visualizations

  2. Unite your data by easily connecting to more than 800 data sources

  3. Transform your data to impactful business metrics and dimensions with intuitive smart reports

  4. Empower your teams with key business metrics by sharing automated dashboards and

  5. Create meaningful, shareable, customizable, charts and graphs with just a few clicks

Some of the key features that have got people buzzing include an expanded collection of report templates, user-friendly web interface, data connectors, embedding in reports, and Looker Studio API.

Google Cloud’s Next ’22

From Data Studio to Looker Studio, Google has made the switch in the product name, now users might be keeping their eyes peeled for more updates.

The last release note was published by Google in early September alongside the last Data Studio update. The coming months will give users a better idea of Google Cloud’s plans with the new Looker Studio but for now, use on!
