It started with Zoom and virtual meetings. Now, we’re having virtual events, family gatherings and even virtual medical check-ups! Yes, it is safe to say the pandemic has brought so much novelty in people’s lives and affected them on many more levels other than their health. General mass panic and public health measures have been around for two years and our lives have shifted to another dimension. A virtual one.
The current health situation has brought small businesses and big companies into a situation where a whole lot more is needed for survival than merely existing and working. Ideas have been born, social media platforms have risen and imagination is set loose.
The future is here.
One of the newest examples is the whole Metaverse situation and the convergence of worlds and currencies. Snapchat is keeping up with the worlds. Yes, plural.
After the virtual meetings and the rise of digital nomads, we are now moving up to the next step – digital events so out of this world but still in the comfort of your home.
OK, Just Tell Me What’s Happening?
A virtual concert involving digital avatars in a digital environment – particularly a JLo concert via Snapchat:
“As part of the promotion for the upcoming Valentine’s Day rom-com Marry Me, Snap and Universal Pictures are hosting a first-of-its-kind virtual concert event developed by Oz and featuring new music from the upcoming romantic comedy.”
The virtual event will let fans log in via Snapchat, with their Bitmoji characters. The character will be added to the crowd, but it sure won’t just stand there. Oh, no no no – every avatar will be able to show off its dance skills, blow bubbles, spawn hearts in the arena – you know, everything you usually do at a concert.
Not only that, but your Bitmoji will be able to release virtual doves when JLo performs a love song (cause who need lighters anymore?), start the wave amongst a crowd of a bunch of other Bitmoji concert enthusiasts, and trigger a series of lasers to sweep the stage and crown for dramatic effect.
Your Bitmoji is invited! Grab a front-row seat to see Jennifer Lopez & Maluma perform virtually as their characters from Universal’s upcoming romantic comedy, Marry Me. Head to the global livestream https://t.co/din1Do9G0m at 5pm PST today on any web-connected device to join. pic.twitter.com/QKHH7vli2H — Snapchat (@Snapchat) February 3, 2022
Why Do I Need To Know This?
This isn’t the first concert of this kind. Fortnite and Roblox are hosting their online virtual concerts events for a few years now. Travis Scotts Astronomical event in 2020 and Ariana Grandes Rift Tour last year were visited by more than 100 million people altogether. That only leads us to a conclusion of how with the young audience comes more virtual reality. For them – it might just be a reality, no virtual prefix needed. Even though it might sound strange to us, for a big part of the population is completely normal.
Why do you need to know this? The answer is simple – survival. When the younger population hits that marketing sweet spot with their age, you will have to work harder if you want to connect with them and make them buy your product. Your imagination is crucial but the options are endless.
