Google Confirms Second Part of the ‘Spam Update’ Has Arrived

It feels like just yesterday we told you about part one of Google’s mysterious “Spam Update,” and already, the search engine has confirmed that part two of the update began rolling out yesterday, June 28 – only five days after part one rolled out.

Similar to its predecessor, Google confirmed on Twitter that part two completed its rollout in just one day.

As part of our regular work to improve results, we’ve released a spam update to our systems. You can learn more about our efforts to fight spam in this post:https://t.co/piCLhbZPkH And this video below:https://t.co/xMYWm4HPze pic.twitter.com/83IL0EB9Lm — Google SearchLiaison (@searchliaison) June 23, 2021

Google Public Search Liason Danny Sullivan also confirmed that part two will affect searches across both web and image results worldwide.

Yes. It’s all part of the same thing, just a second part. — Danny Sullivan (@dannysullivan) June 28, 2021

Just like with part one, it doesn’t appear that the update is causing any significant widespread ranking fluctuations just yet. But it’s possible that it’s simply too early to see any major impact.

As we previously reported, not much is known about this “Spam Update.” The big questions most SEOs still have include what the update will mean for search results, and what type of spam Google is targeting. We’ll have to wait and see if Google decides to reveal more information.

Until then, as with any algorithm update from Google, it’s important to keep an eye on your rankings in the coming days and make adjustments accordingly.
