Facebook Rewards “Good Ideas” With New Ad Campaign

Facebook’s new ad campaign is recognizing the tough toll the COVID-19 pandemic has taken on small business.

The social media platform has launched an ad campaign that features small businesses that use Facebook’s personalized ad services. The ad campaign is titled ‘Good Ideas Deserve to Be Found’ and shares real success stories from businesses. The campaign will include TV spots, radio spots, and ads on digital channels, including Facebook and Instagram.

“We’re introducing Good Ideas Deserve To Be Found, an initiative that highlights how personalized ads are an important way people discover small businesses on Facebook and Instagram, and how these ads help small businesses grow from an idea into a livelihood,” Facebook announced through a press release on Feb. 25.

The platform is hoping that this will continue to strengthen the bond between small businesses and the site’s advertising options.

“Many millions, in fact the majority of small businesses, on our platform, use all of our free tools,” said Andrew Stirk, Facebook’s head of brand strategy, “but there is a degree of urgency and that urgency is driven by the fact that small businesses are hurting right now.”

Facebook recently ran a survey asking small businesses questions pertaining to their experiences in 2020. Among the results, 47% of small business owners indicated that they feared their business would close in the following six months.

Alongside this campaign, Facebook launched a few features to assist small businesses using its platform for advertising:

Launching new tools for restaurants, like the ability to upload menus

Giving Ads Manager a new, simplified dashboard

Delaying the period in which Facebook will start collecting fees for paid online events

So far, businesses that have been featured in the ad campaign include Goat House Farm, a Florida-based yoga enterprise that invites goats to participate alongside humans, and House of Takura, a Texas-based lifestyle brand that incorporates African traditions. Both of these small businesses had advertised through Facebook and Instagram.
